Inspire Me Woman - Peta Serras

I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar...

Peta Serras is 24, a Pilates instructor who runs a Pilates studio in East Maitland in the Hunter Valley called Pilates Evolution Now. Not only is Peta a Pilates instructor and business woman - she is also a model, blogger/writer and a 'foodie'. Peta is also one of the most hilarious, independant and motivated women I know. Her facebook states, 'Every year is my year..' and 2013 will be no different. Read on to learn more about this fascinating woman, including what she is currently working on, her successes, inspiration and some style tips! For the official Peta Serras Facebook page click here.

Can you briefly describe your job/career?
I am a Pilates Instructor who writes for professional publication, runs a successful blog (Pilates Evolution Now - Blog) and models in her spare time! I also have my own Pilates DVD designed to get you into your splits in 15 minutes a day!

How did you decide to get into the field you work in?
I started Pilates from my dance background to help strengthen up and fell into modeling after I was entered in ‘Search for a Plus-size Supermodel’ when I was 15.

What do you like the most about it?
I like that with Pilates I get to help people on a regular basis and improve their lives and wellbeing. I love with modeling that I get a satisfaction from booking jobs as people choose to work with me due to my good work ethic and healthy look.

What do you like the least?
I work extremely long hours and dealing with the public sometimes isn't the greatest! The castings in modeling is the hardest. You might attend 30 and maybe book 1!

What is your favourite colour?
Turquoise.

Do you do your hair or makeup first when getting ready?
Hair! I set in hot rollers and then focus on makeup.

Growing up what were your favourite styles/fashion trends?
I've always loved Grecian styling. Michael Kors did this a few years ago and it looked sensational. Tans, big blowdries, minimal makeup and sleek dresses in sunset colours with lots of gold.

What are your current fashion favourites?
I love that the shoes are super high! Death to kitten heels! Crystal handbags by Oroton are definitely on my list of faves, I purchased the black crystal one for my birthday last year and they definitley make for very special gifts.

If you could only use three makeup products what would they be?
Clarins moisturiser, Hurraw! Lip balm and MAC brow powder.

What is your signature look?
Strong brows

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Dominating the world.

What has been something you have struggled with or been challenged by lately?
My self confidence and believing in myself. I get down so often because I have this idea in my head of how I should be which is unrealistic and unfair on myself!

What has been the most exciting or satisfying moment for you professionally?
Producing my own Pilates DVD. Also shooting with Marie Claire and professional photographer Adam Flipp.

Do you have a quote or piece of advice that you use to live by or motivate you through life?
"Everyday, in every way I am getting better..."

What is the piece of advice you offer to others?
Practice gratitude so more good can always come into your life.

If someone wanted to break into your line of work what would you tell them?
Be head strong and know you can do anything you set your mind to

Who are your role models? Why?
Gisele Bundchen and Janice Dickinson. Extremley successful models who have completley blown the world by storm with their success. I admire them and all they have achieved.

Who is your style icon?
Nicole Richie

Do you have a styling or beauty tip you can pass on to For the Style Seeking Girl's readers?
Strong brows make the face

What was your dream job growing up?
Supermodel.

What is a guilty pleasure of yours?
Eating chocolate everyday, even breakfast time!

What is something you want to cross off your bucket list?
A cover of Women's Health magazine.

Do you have a single moment or time that has changed your life?
Being 20kilos overweight. It is something you must experience, I believe, in order to give advice. It helps me so much with counselling clients.

What would you tell your 16 year old self?
Everything will be okay, you are gorgeous and the world is your oyster.
Just wait and see!

What is a styling/beauty 'rule' that you follow/break?
follow - less is more
break - thongs with almost everything. Havaianas are my best friend!

What would you like to pass on to future generations?
Just be yourself and never try to be anyone else. You are good enough just as you are.

What is a fashion/beauty trend you dislike?
Undone brows. Dark lips and dark eyes - too much makeup! Let your natural beauty shine!

What three things would you take with you on a desert island?
Suvana (paw paw) ointment, Jensen Ackles and my brow powder... (Serious!)

What is your favourite song?
Chet Faker - Into You

What is your favourite movie?
Footloose.

Thank you to Peta for her fantastic responses to the varied questions thrown at her. She is definitely an inspiration to me - this woman will change the world one day, I believe she has already started. Peta is currently studying nutrition and during this year will be a qualified health and lifestyle coach.
